"welcome to indie web"

these past few months, most of people on the internet started doing some changes in order to escape the doomscrolling addiction and brain rot content. I'm one of them and here's why I did it.

when you start to open a social media app nowadays. there's always going to be a brainrot content, ai generated slop, advertisement and subscriptions that you might wanted to pay in order to experience the special feature of an app. for me, personally... that sucks. it made me feel that internet is like a big hole with an infinite void. i'm completely aware that internet was an awesome place back then unlike today. we all know that it is not perfect but, we're not in this hellhole back then. what happened? honestly, i don't know either but i also don't want to find out coz i'm bored.

most of the people i've been seeing online started doing many ways in order to make some changes on their lifestyle since internet became like an addiction that we never think exists. some of them started buying analog products and keeping physical media content than buying or streaming it online. i do personally wanted to have a dvd/bluray collection someday tho. other people literally gave up internet full blown and stopped using them. kind of funny how those people tell their stories online in youtube, kind of ironic but, also amazing to hear. there's also a little group of people started making their own websites to keep away from social media and menage their own static html that is working somewhere in the internet.

these stories kind of inspired me to be creative again and start doing content creation, not mainly for the money (monetization sucks now tho) but for creativity. many people are going back to youtube to watch long form videos or upload their long form carefully crafted videos or essays. by watching those, it kind of made me think. sooo, i started to check my digital wellbeing on my phone, counting my online expenses, and started thinking how to make a creative stuff that is meaningfull (or not) than doomscrolling online.

i'm shocked, my online existence roughly costs me ₱1500 (roughly $25 or sumn, idk math) and this is just for social media. there's no streaming services yet and other stuff. at this point i've been thinking like 'what if i ditch my social media and other stuff online and focus mainly on this website. since most of domain you can buy online costs $25 dollars a year or two... why not? right? that's why i started making this website with neocities and nekoweb.

by me posting this. i'm going to start transitioning here from my social media apps by next week. i'm not going to abandon my accounts. just going to lessen nmy subscriptions everywhere and present myself online without any ads and if someone just want to stalk me. go to my website lmao.

the countdown starts and hopefully in 2027, my creativity comes back by removing brainrot content and doomscrolling addiction. internet is fun, yes. but, still... once you feel unsafe, you need to go back and think of another ways to enjoy stuff online, or even offline
